About Us...
Nature Walks to Wellness offers evidence-based, relational nature and forest therapy programs, as well as guided forest immersion walks, designed improve attention, focus, and sense of well-being while reducing stress.
We are currently developing programs for families with children to “plant the seeds” of health and wellness.
Our vision: Transforming health and wellness through relationship, reciprocity, and reconnection with nature.
Our mission is to support humans of all ages in reconnecting to themselves, the more-than-human-world, and others through guided "relational" nature and forest therapy walks.
Core Values
We follow the ANFT "Way of the Guide"
-
Collaboration and Partnering with Nature
-
Our nature walks work with that which nature is offering in the moment during each walk.
-
-
Co-emergence
-
Our walk invitations don't originate solely from the guide's planning or the participants' intentions, but emerge naturally from the interplay of nature, group dynamics, individual psyches, the guide's awareness, and their collective interactions.
-
The guide remains attentive and responsive to what this "combined landscape" is offering in the moment, rather than following a fixed agenda or trying to create specific experiences.
-
-
Communication
-
The words a guide uses can impact the participants' experiences. Prescriptive or evaluative words will keep participants in their thinking brain. Simple, Sensory, Unlimited, and Open-ended words/phrases lead to embodied experiences that regulate the nervous system.
-
-
Deep Listening
-
Listening to understand
-
-
Honor, Respect and Reconciliation
-
We remember and acknowledge the history of the land where we walk.
-
We honor and respect the wisdom and care of Indigenous Peoples for the land and water.
-
We support the building of a path forward that helps current residents understand their place in history and support efforts to protect the environment and respect Indigenous rights today.
-
-
Relationships
-
We know that we are deeply connected to each other and to the natural world.
-
Our practice is based on the heart sense and how we relate to ourselves, others, and the More-Than-Human-World of nature.
-
-
Reciprocity
-
We don't want to live in the story of separation; we want to live in the story of connection, where we listen and care for each other, for nature, and thrive together.
-
-
Radical Hospitality
-
We create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space for all participants to slow down and feel present.
-
-
Trusting the Unfolding
-
We follow the moment and allow the natural environment to guide the pace and focus of the nature walk experience.
-
-
Acceptance
-
Every participant is respected and welcomed for who they are.
-
Every walk respects and welcomes what nature is offering in the moment.
